Yokohama Marine Mining is managed by a team of professionals with many years of hands on experience in the scientific and mining industries.
Akio Sanetomi – Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Sanetomi commenced his professional career working in the Japanese coal mining industry in the early 1980’s. In 1988 he relocated to Australia where he worked for Broken Hill Propriety Company (BHP Billiton) for 22 years. Mr. Sanetomi initially worked in technical areas, before advancing to senior management roles within BHP.
Mr. Sanetomi worked as an advisor to several multinational companies and governments after leaving BHP.
Mr. Sanetomi has a Master’s Degree in Geology from Tohoku University and a Masters of Business Administration from Melbourne Business School.
Christian Archer – Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Archer is a Chartered Management Accountant with over 25 years’ experience finance, accounting and corporate administration. He has held senior management positions within several publicly listed companies in both in the United States. He has a degree in Economics from University of Chicago.
Katsumi Kinmochi – Chief Operations Officer
Mr. Kinmochi is a marine geologist and oceanographer. Mr. Kinmochi is an expert in submarine mining with over 20 years of experience in marine exploration, including 10 years at Mitsui Oil Exploration. He has a degree in Marine Geology from Hokkaido University.
Bart Andrews – Chief Geological Officer
Mr. Andrews has more than 25 years of experience in mining and exploration geology. He has worked on numerous projects around the world from Alaska to Australia. Mr. Andrews holds a B.Sc. in Geology from University of Pennsylvania. Before helping to found Yokohama Marine Mining, Mr. Andrews was a consultant geologist at several rare earth mineral mines around the globe.
Nozomi Okada – Chief Legal Officer
Mrs. Okada is a corporate lawyer with over 18 years’ experience in acquisitions, financing and raising capital for mining operations worldwide. In addition she specializing in environmental law. Mrs. Okada holds a degree in Law from Aichi University and a degree in Environmental Law from Berkeley School of Law.
